Currently the Managing Consultant of REEV Consult International and is a Poverty Eradication Consultant in the African Region. Holds a MSc (Econ) from The London School of Economics and a PhD Poverty Eradicaton) Makerere University. Has been contracted by multilateral agencies, bilateral organizations, government Ministries, Non-governmental organizations and the private sector for the design of country programmes.
Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba was a National consultant for Country Self Assessment for Local Economic Development (LED).
He was also Specialist Development Consultant for the Designing the District Development Programme (DDPIII) under the auspices of MoLG and supported by United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
The main component of DDPIII is Local Economic Development (LED). Was consultant for the Production of Common Wealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) theme paper on “Transforming Common Wealth Countries to achieve Political Economic and Human Development). Dr. Nuwagaba was a Specialist Technical Consultant for the African Peer Review Mechanism under New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD), to develop a Country Self Assessment Report for the Republic of Uganda.
Was Consultant for the development of National Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation Systems (NIMES) for all sector Ministries in Uganda. Was Lead Consultant for the Needs Assessment for the Implementation of an Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for the Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) of the Republic of Rwanda, Nov. 2005-Jan. 2006.
Prof. Nuwagaba was also Lead Consultant for the End Evaluation of the GoU/UNFPA 5th Country Programme and Baseline for the GoU/UNFPA 6th Country Programme, funded by the UNFPA, Jan-March 2006; Was Team leader for the National Integrity Survey (NISIII).
The Survey covered all the 81 districts of Uganda. Was Consultant for the Assessment of the National Programme on the Poverty Eradication action Plan (PEAP) and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), executed under the auspices of UNDP-Uganda, May 2003.
Was Lead Consultant for the World Bank Client Feedback Survey and World Bank Study for the assessment of the trends of Urban Poverty in Uganda.
Was Lead Consultant for the Development of the National Population Policy for Uganda Government, 2005.
Has been contracted by the Government of Uganda and UNDP for the appraisal studies for MDGs and Poverty Eradication Action Plan (PEAP) in Uganda.
Was lead Consultant for the development of the Performance Measurement Framework (PMF) for the Ugandan Water Sector for 2 years, 2003 and 2004.
Has published widely in the fields of Poverty Reduction Strategies in Africa; Research Methodology; Monitoring and Evaluation of Socio-Economic Development Projects; In 1994, Prof. Nuwagaba was appointed as a member of the African Regional Panel of Experts on Poverty (Accra Ghana).
Prof. Nuwagaba has distinguished himself as a leading expert in design and evaluation of Poverty Reduction Strategies and Programmes in the African Region.
In May 2004, Prof. Nuwagaba was awarded by the American Biographical Institute (ABI) the award for Professional Career and Significant Achievement and contribution to society which earned him a position in the famous Contemporary World “WHO IS WHO” 2004 pp. 336
